POSITION: Network LAN/WAN Network Automation Specialist

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: FULL-TIME

JOB PURPOSE:
Working with Government lead, leverages HP Network Automation software (or similar) to automate network change, configuration, and compliance management. Objective is to guide organization in reducing costs and administration time required to manage change and configurations of the network while ensuring compliance in a stable and secure environment. Performs duties in complex global Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) environment. Position does not require HP Network Automation experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs “what-if” analysis to determine first, second and third order impact of configuration changes, planned and unplanned outages, enters or updates data in HP NA or similar configuration management tools.
· Ensures that organization's network is capable of providing a wide range of services that are vital to the accomplishment of mission requirements.
· Develops project plans, assigns and prioritizes the work of other network specialists, and oversees the implementation of project activities.
· Defines customer requirements for new and modified systems and services based upon analysis of business needs and practices and network configuration constraints.
· Configures front-end processors, hubs, switches, and routers; monitors network performance; analyzes network traffic patterns; and installs network software fixes and upgrades.
· Configures, monitors, and tunes operating system telecommunication access methods for assigned processing environments.
· Diagnoses and resolves network problems.
· Leads and / or assists with development of network back-up and recovery procedures.
· Creates network maps; and troubleshoots network problems such as outages.
· Develops technical standards and requirements for the acquisition of network hardware, software and services.
· Ensures rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of network services.
· Troubleshoot operating systems, network systems, applications, protocols, equipment, and performance schedules to remediate events and restore service or minimize interruptions to customers.
· Resolve highly complex problems using proper event escalation procedures when necessary.
· Rigorously apply information security and information assurance policies and practices.
· Mitigate risks and ensure the integrity of enterprise applications, systems, networks, and data.
· Analyze established performance tools to proactively enhance monitors in attempt to continuously increase customer satisfaction.
· Write detailed findings of forecasted configuration changes and/or system events to propose recommended improvements, explaining technical solutions and compiling data in after-action reports.
· Compose technical documentation addressing administrator procedures, known errors with resolutions and established workarounds for Knowledge Management solutions.
· Coordinate, execute, implement, and maintain installation and operation schedules of customer application systems.
· Apply comprehensive knowledge of skilled customer support concepts and methods.

· Ability to communicate clearly via written and spoken word to multiple stakeholders including peers, mid-level and senior leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS;
Technical Expertise:
- HP Network Automation or similar platform experience desired but not required.
- Network analysis & troubleshooting
- Routing, Switching, Firewall concepts
- Load balancing
- Directory integration
1. Knowledge of Network Lifecycle Automation concepts: Discover & track; Change & configure; Audit & enforce; Maintain & support.
2. Knowledge of network: operations, management, maintenance methods and concepts, architecture/design principle and concepts, optimization techniques and problem resolution in support of Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) communications/infrastructure.
3. Ability to serve as a senior network analyst in a complex WAN/LAN environment on a large scale to include configuring hubs, switches, routers and firewalls and other hardware/software components; monitoring network performance, performing network diagnostics, analyzing network traffic patterns using a variety of network management tools; and installing network software fixes and upgrades.
4. Ability to research and analyze complex WAN/LAN communications requirements, problems, and outages and determine effective and timely resolutions. Network communications requirements, problem solutions, or outage troubleshooting may involve topics such as TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, IOS, VLAN, VACLs, ACLS, hubs, switches, routers, firewalls or other hardware/software elements or network components. Network communications requirements, problem, or outage troubleshooting solutions may involve the internetwork operating system (IOS) configuration, TCP/IP BGP, EIGRP protocols, VLANs, VACLs, ACLS, hubs, switches, routers, firewalls and other hardware/software elements or network components.
5. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Security+ and OS Certification will be required through self-study within six (6) months of
employment
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a minimum active Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain an Active
Top Secret Clearance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, interpret, and relay data received verbally and in written form.
